How do I get there? You can easily drive to the Bitter Goose Lodge, or you can fly into either State College (SCE) or Martinsburg (AOO) airport and rent a car. We are approximately a 30 minute drive from AOO and 70 minutes from SCE. Click here for directions. |
Is there a phone in the lodge and cabins? Yes, there is a phone with local calling services only. For the cabins, there is a phone located on the office porch which has local service. If you plan to make long distance calls, please bring your calling card. The phone number for the property is: 814-448-3194. This will ring at both the Lodge and office. |
Is there a grocery store near the property? There is a small store approximately 15 minutes from the lodge that sells all the main staples, junk food and other miscellaneous items that you might have forgotten to bring. They also rent movies, sell hunting and fishing licenses and gasoline. There are several larger grocery stores in Huntingdon and Saxton. Ice and charcoal are available for purchase at the office for $2.00/bag. |
Do the lodge and cabins have TVs? Yes, the lodge has a color TV, with basic cable and a VHS/DVD player in the main living room. The cabins each have a color TV and a VCR. You are more than welcome to bring your favorite movies along to watch. |
Are animals permitted? Pets are not allowed. |
What kinds of kitchen facilities are available? The kitchen in the lodge has been renovated and includes a gas range and oven, a large refrigerator and freezer, a microwave, coffee maker, and a dishwasher. Dinnerware, cookware and utensils are also provided. Each cabin comes with a fully-equipped kitchen, including refrigerator, coffee pot, microwave and oven. |
Can we bring our ATVs? Yes, you can bring them with you, but you are NOT permitted to use them while on the Bitter Goose property. |
Is there a place to park boats? Yes, we have ample boat and trailer parking. |
Can we buy alcohol or bring it with us? You are welcome to bring beer or alcohol with you. There are no beer distributors or liquor stores close to the lodge, so it is recommended that you purchase before coming to visit. |
